Your Amazon Account has been terminated due to lack of referrals...what to do about it.

I went to my Amazon account today to add a widget to a blog and found out that I have to do a lot of work again to add widgets to my blogs. I just deleted widgets from my over 100 blogs and several sites on the Internet because Amazon updated everything to go to the Native Ads widget (which I'm still not fond of).

Fortunately they have a chat line so you can connect with them and resolve things but although I think Amazon is a great place to buy and sell, I have to state Charlie Brown's exclamation: "Good Grief!" I'm tired of having to constantly update these widgets, etc. etc.

Here's the script of the chat I had so hopefully it will help my readers. (I'm glad their are alternatives to Amazon so I'm not totally "out").

You are now connected to AMAZON CS:  from Associate Support.
AMAZON CS: :Hello, my name is AMAZON CS: . I'm here to help you today.

Me:Hi AMAZON CS: . I was about to add a widget (Native Ads) to a blog and when I came to Amazon I see that my account was terminated due to no referrals. I just got done eliminating all or most or my previous widgets on my websites and blogs because of Amazon's move to Native Ads and I was slowly adding Native Ads to my sites and blogs; now this? How can I "re-apply"?

AMAZON CS: :I'm sorry to hear your account was closed. To re-apply you can go here: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/ and click on "Join Now for Free". If you're already signed into your account, if you click "Sign out", you'll see the "Join Now for Free" button.

Me:OK. I just changed my password thinking that perhaps this was an "older" account. Now when I re-apply the previous links that I've already installed in my sites and blogs will not work with my new account, right? And how can I avoid this happening again (other than doing whatever I can do to get people to click on the links)? Why does Amazon do this? It may take "a while" to build up viewers who will click on links. Does it "cost" Amazon in any way to allow affiliates to "take a while" to get going?

AMAZON CS: :Correct, when you reapply you will be assigned a new store ID. You would want to either rebuild any existing links or at least replace the old store ID with the new one that your new account is assigned. When you first apply you are given 180 days to get your first referral. After your first referral your application will be reviewed to make sure your website listed fits within the programs guidelines. I can take a look at your account to verify that is why it was closed. Unfortunately we don't have a way to extend the 180 days for the first referral, but you can always reapply when your account is closed for the 180 day closures.
If you wanted me to pull up the closed account I would need the email address and name from the account please.

Me:Thanks for this info AMAZON CS: . Do you think that you could reinstate the old account so my links would work again? The email is: (…) and my name is (…).

AMAZON CS: :Thank you. Unfortunately we are not able to reinstate accounts when they are closed. I see in the address you provided there is something else after (your address line). Is there something that should be included in the address after Ave?

Me:Suite 1. But it doesn't matter because as you say pulling up the old account isn't going to solve anything. I will take your advice and re-apply.

AMAZON CS: :That is fine. I'm sorry we aren't able to reactivate closed accounts, but you can certainly reapply. Did you have any questions about reapplying?

Me:OK,so now I will have to delete and re-install new links in all of my sites and blogs. BTW I really liked the older widgets; the Native Ads is probably a "good thing" but they don't always "show" on my sites and blogs. I hope you'll come out with some other widgets too. I have over 100 blogs and several websites. Thanks for all and wish me luck on getting "hits" and "referrals" this time around!

AMAZON CS: :I wish you lick and let us know if you have any other questions.
*luck

I'll pass your feedback along that you liked the widgets as well.

Make it a great day all!
